TROPOS 

Wind Machine is an environmental art installation that visualizes local weather patterns. Several long strands of metal organized in a field condition capture the movement of wind on a human scale, creating a score for human movement. This work explores how invisible ‘boundaries’, such as wind, can influence our movement patterns and interactions.

As a sculptural work, the strands of metal are each slightly bent and draw attention to the trees moving slowly above. The changing environment creates multiple paths of travel through the piece. Each frame produced by the moving structure reorients perspectives out into the city, while the tall metal pieces shift tentatively above the viewer. As the piece changes and moves with the wind, the viewer's sense of orientation and uncertainty shifts.
